I bought Mega Man 9 last night and it pretty much blew my mind.
Actually, I blew. I've never been very good at any of the Mega Man games (excepting maybe Mega Man 3), and even though I only played for a short while before stepping off to order some pizzas, I hardly made it through half a level.
Ok, so the MM games are generally tricky the first couple of times you play, before you get a feel for the controls or the enemy movements. I found the controls to be a little funky, playing with the Wiimote. The 1 and 2 buttons feels to small and positioned too close together, and the controller itself is (in my opinion) too thin to hold in this manner, especially for a game like this where one has to be quick or be dead.
The game looks and behaves exactly like it would have, had it been released on the Nes back in the days. The graphics and sound are both gorgeous. Even the flickering sprites that haunted the Nes is present, which shows that they've nailed this game down to the floorboards... The flickering can be turned off, however! What a relief!
